Those were the best days of my life...

Okay the following pictures are from school and various celebrations...
Okay some of these I just added because they were rather humorous...

Evidently this is Miika Pelkonen, a famous magician...his hair was much funnier just before I took the photo...pity :)This is me and a good friend of mine Iina
And another good friend of mine Kerttu...both Iina and Kerttu helped me from the start in my new school in Finland...and I thank them for it...
This is Jarno, enjoying the Purrojuhlat (Porridge Festival) immensely...
And here is, from the left, Terhi and Miika...err I mean Miika ja Terhi...actually I'm not sure because they look exactly THE SAME...
Here we have the servers of the delicious porridge...normally I hate school porridge there but that day I just kept eating ...it was soo delicious with sultanas on top and it was rice porridge...mmm
Okay this is me...I sang "Leaving on a Jet Plane" by John Denver at the Purrojuhlat and caused many people to start crying...And then when they reciprocated with a song dedicated to me it was my turn...
This book is one of my going away presents from the school...some of you may recall the moose/reindeer perched on my shoulder...he has shared my adventures for a while now...
Here is Sari and Janika with me and my presents...the mug in my right hand was a present from Sveitsin Lukio (my school there) as was the book and the photograph inside the book...
This is a picture of my best friends ever...from the left back: Janika, Jussi, Karoliina, then at the front from the left is Sari me and Emppu...
This is Janika again with an *interesting* hair style...and don't forget the moose/reindeer...
Okay this picture is actually hilarious...The word on the banner means "Life's Essentials" and the arrows point directly to the chocolate section just below it...
He's back...
And here we have Sari and Jussi...both looking a tad like boxers...
Ahem indeed...she's going to kill me for this but me and Janika in a beautiful pose...
The next day...Jussi is really happy to practise some dances we have never learnt before...as am I :

And here we have the braided hair...courtesy of Sari...if I remember correctly...
The night sky of Hyvinkää...stunning...
And here we tried a human leaning tower of Pisa...Janika, me, Miika, Jussi and Jarno...thsi was sitting down by the way...
And another beautiful sunset over the town of hyvinkää...taken from a bridge leading to mcdonalds *oksentaa*... (look it up)
And here we are in a church looking nervous and singing carols...I was going to play a duet in the violin in the middle...but then the second violinist injured her hand...so I had a nice solo...
Janika, Jarno and Sari...Jarno is as impressed by life as always...
And the highlights of the city of hyvinkää...by night
I'm enjoying staring at this neon sign...it's a bank...
Excited obviously...
And here we have the bookstore...this is my best nerd-rocker pose
and the finns...from my school
I honestly can't tell them apart...
Christmas tree...rather dead looking...
Jarno in a *cough* innocent *cough* pose...
And it's rather cold here...now I'm in front of the library...this is part of the nerd series...
Shoe-shot...from the shoes on the bottom left corner and reading in an anti-clockwise direction: Me, Janika, Sari, Jussi, Karoliina and Jarno...
And again...it be us...

regards to all and a merry christmas...

Lapland! Soo awesome

LAPLAND!!! SOOO FUN!!!

IF I DON'T KNOW YOU'RE NAME ( IF I FORGOT) PLEASE TELL ME IT ON MSN!

Okay firstly here is my host family's dog being a "hölmö"...tearing a stick apart...it gained an appearance because it's a "lapinkoira" or "dog of lapland"...but to the lapland trip...

I arrived almost an hour early by accident...at the bus station...then we left with these remarkable people: from the left, Nellie, Essi, then another tutor, then edwina's back, then Case, then Catie... A US chap and canadian lass...I possibly have the most appalling memory for names in the world...I apologise
However the mighty Daniel and Judith are impossible to forget...
Claire with her most intelligent face...
And here we have a Deutsche and a US Washingtonian

And of course the Barbara who lives in the same city as me...from mexico...
Hamish, canadian (very quiet hence harder to remember her name :) ) and sarah from the US
And here we have the japanese exchangers...
One of the many bus drivers...
And our rotary representative... He speaks fluent english swedish and finnish...I must say he did a very good job...I thoroughly enjoyed the trip...

And here we have Mr Washington and Hamish from the ausland
This here is Zach aka "Cheese"...with a certain lack of poseature...so we gave him a few tips...
I think we did well...another success story...
Hmm not much explanation necessary...I was happy to go to lapland!
Mr Washington again...

Sarah in rather a "myspace" pose...
Hmm...Name has fled my memory...but she likes music...reminds me of my singing teacher Sam...
A glance into the beauty of lapland ...
And this is the place we were staying at...quite strange that there's no swedish flag there...but there's german and norwedgian...
A collection of exchangers

And here we have Case Ives from the US but lives in the same finnish city as me...
And from the US we have...damn it names just leave me... but anyway we went skiing down a difficult slop and fell over many times...and when I did it again I injured my leg...note you may be able to see crutches after this picture...
Okay I hate my reluctance to waste food sometimes...I ate that whole bowl of cream at speed...in about 45 seconds...ohhh dear
INdeed...that smile was definitely faked...
And now we have the legacy of lapland reindeer and me attempting to feed them...

And here is a snow angel...compliments of Julia from Germany
And here is an amazingly beautiful husky...just check out it's blue blue eyes...
And here we have Julian from germany trying to break the "don't touch the reindeer rule"...
And me just trying to look like a professionaö reindeer driver...
And here are the other thrilled exchangers when we discovered that our STUPID reindeer ran off the road into the forest...stupid stupid stupid thing...

And here it is...I was heavily abusing it in finnish...
And here we are brilliantly happy that the HELVETIN TYHMÄ PORO went off the road...and in our midst is our driver...Julian again...and he still received his reindeer driving license...along with the rest of us...
Here from the left we have: Julia from Germany, France, Mexico, the wizard of AUS and good ol' cheese... all about to go snowshoeing...
And here's Julian and me...I was crutch-snowshoeing...sooo fun
And here we are iglooing...this igloo is a hotel...you can sleep there...unless you drink in which case it's dangerous coz of the cold...

And here are two germans and a girl from the phillipines...At least I think so...correct me someone if I'm wrong

And here we have Julia again with good old rudolph on
And Julian...such good times...
Case caught in an emo shot...

we got to see the finnish Talent show contestant who sang an ancient saame technique of singing...brilliant but a bit repetitive...
Oh dear...someone had a bad hair day...She's from Germany...and she tried to escape the camera...but we hunted her down...
And here we have Dorothee and Julia in the start of an all out snow war... it was brilliant...we joined in a little bit later...

This artwork is complements of a canadian from nova scotia...hope that was right...
Here he is...
And a beautiful picture of Julia...

And the tutors...not too happy that we were still awake...
And here is daniel and the skigirl from the US...
Let's play spot the rather humorous mistake...

And here we have where the commercial santa claus lives...with his snowmen guards
Suits me...
the "oldies"...good times, good times
And Julian with the added affect of glasses...we had some fun times in lapland...
But when it's time to go it's always hard...

I love the name of this...I took this in Oulu just after I arrived and about to go back to lapland with my host family
A massive skiing slope there...was amazing...this was in Yllästunturi
And here I am with my cross-country skiis...first time...was fun only coz there was no other exercise available...
And that tasted good...
So did that---welcom food after cross country skiing for soo long...we manged 8ks on the first day...12 on the second and 13 on the third...

Here's my host brother's girlfriend...with a rather nice black eye from skiing...
And my host dad and our dog...
Just 4KM LEFT!!

It's soo fun to be towed by our dog...much easier...
And these were some beautiful ski slopes...

Brilliant beautiful bridge and snow...
And me rather exhausted... after hard skiing
A brilliant landsape...
And our dog again
And a picture of where we relaxed for a sec before setting of on the final segment of our epic journey...sooo fun

I miss the exchangers...and lapland soo much...

David out!

have a good one all...
