A tad on where I live as well as happenings

Wall climbing:
A while ago I went rock climbing with a bunch of my host sister's friends

Jussi and Veera (my host sister)...that wall is impossible...my shoulder will never and my blood pressuer will never be the same again... This man is insane...I have labelled him as "hämähäkki mies"...look it up! Jeez he's like my good friend Sam Magin...perfect build for climbing
This is a picture of one of the strangest inventions I've ever seen...a tricycle...in REVERSE...2 wheels at the front and one at the back...straaaaaange
This is a car of the famous make in the "Mister Bean" series...The blue three-wheeler was always a target of Mr Bean's...hilarious!
A picture from the centre of my city...
A picture of an obelisk taken from the same place
The sunset over the railway
And over the area of the city just over the railway bridge
Thsi is just past the area where I used to play chess...now it's moved and I'm too lazy to travel the distance...*sigh*
This is rather difficult to see but this is the nearest shop to my house...I visit there rather often...chocolate, you see, is rather an addiction of mine...
A picture from top of the hill on the way to my house...
And another similar one...these ones remind me particularly of the Lord of the Rings films... it seems a little like Mordor and the tower...

Me at the railway station about to go to Tikkurila to see a science place (very similar to the one in newcastle) named Heureka
Okay this was just funny...to name a Cafe after Albert Einstein is a diabolical trick...definitely reminding me of Mrs Walker, Neurotically obsessed with Einstein (no offense :D)
The exchangers...
Ashley from the US using the telekinetic powers of the mind (aka simple physics) to levitate a spinnign ball between her hands
And again on a bicycle made for riding on a wire...

"Täysikuu" also known as the famous "Full Moon"...not to be confused with Sonata Arctica's famous song...
A very exciting find of Ashley's; hiding in her backpack for a long timeAnd here we have some finnish music enthusiasts...hmmm...okay but they're not finnish...this is my sister and a whole lot of her friends from their formal...I've received a lot of support from them...especially when I told them I was going to a Sonata Arctica Concert...jealousy is funny sometimes :D:D
And some more of them...Sarah I think you need a haircut...(I love to tease her...never ever been cut before)
And my younger younger sister elizabeth...she's obviously listening to some finnish music of sorts...oh and she looks like one of the girls at my school! Weeeiiird...anyway that ends the show for today
(oh and sarah, you can blame dad for me putting your pictures on my blog :D :D...)
enjoy

Pictures from a fun day!

Okay this my selection from some kind of finnish open day...I played violin at one point and had a good time...

This is Linda and Kepa...Both from school...Linda sang in the concert while kepa just sat around enjoying it...
Jarno...an interesting fellow who played guitar for a few of the performances...unfortunately the guitar died in a rather interesting fashion during the performance...the cable stopped working and it made a rather "bleing bleing" sound...yep
A couple of expert drama performers brought straight from hyvinkään sveitsin lukio (my school) Anu, on the left, and my host brother, Jussi, on the right
Raaaooowwrrr...Me with straightened hair (you see sis I managed it!)...oh and face paint to boot giving me, in kepa's expert opinion (she's a model) , the look of Tarzan
And a nicer shot of the same "surfie-style" crossed with the local parisher's cat
Gotta love the unexpected photos...*sigh*...anu again

This is Neilo, my Host-nephew...it was his birthday a few days ago
And again with a delicious cake and his sister Maja and aunt Veera
And their mother as well!...
A nice day at school...borrowing a nice girl's glasses so that I could get a glimpse of my future as a crazy professor...
And they suit Case just as well...

The choir concert of my host mother...was fun...
Me with snow (finally!) in my hair...
A nice little car with nice little fluffy animals
Okay this is in no way connected to Jokela...this is the finnish "day of the dead" kind of like our Rememberance day but for everyone not just the soldiers in the first and second world war...
And finally jussi, amateur taikuri...haha I mean magician...my english is going fast :D

David

A big three person b'day party...and more!

Me and my dad...and look closely at my feet...notice anything strange...nah me neither they're just two normal feet with five toes each...
"My, Jussi what strange eyes you have"..."All the better to freak the hell out of you with..." be afraid...
Host brother and his strange hands...
Oay this is just back from norway...and I felt like wearing a bowl on my head and pointing at a random invisible object...
Norwegian host family
Norwegian host family...It was brilliant there!

Heh heh...my host brother heikki wearing my custom-made "minnie mouse" headset...however it was orgininally intented to be a bikini...
Me outside my finnish school...good fun there

The snow-capped mountains of norway...+ sun
Um yes...no caption really necessary

Me with a charming jelly thing...as my host brother always says: Yummy!! (note I'm not wearing a hat
Oh I love this shot...from the top of a massive norwegian mountain (note I'm wearing a hat...I unfortunately lost it on the trip down...) Me and Martin...ohh dearie dear...
My dad and Martin sorenson...wooow the view was enchanting

My dad and Martin Sorenson on a nice walk in the snow...

And we have more fungi
Me in a lot of comfort after it started to POOUUUUUR with rain...
That would happen to be me and my Norwegian host Martin Sorenson...after it had started to pouuuurrrrr with rain...
A beautiful norway inlet...I think that's the word...meh...it'll do
Hmm...Not much to be said here...

And the good old salibandy, or floorball...soooo much fun!
My dad in Karjala...
An enchanting view of Karjala...I'm in almost the same place as one of my previous pictures...I wonder if you can find it...
Okay this, for the benefit of non-finnish speakers is a T-shirt saying "Real (or full) beer" in a traditional finnish landscape
Me in the act of stea...*ahem* "borrowing" a finnish signpost...

One of a serious of artistic shots I took when my dad was in finland...of fungi
And another
My dad, in the act of paddling...well steering our canoe on the way back from the russian border in Karjala
Me...with as natural a smile as I ever did have
Aaaand more fungi

A nice picture of swans on the way to the dry dock for our summer cottage boat
Jeez the lakes are beautiful
My father in Karjala....I was there too...

Me and a good friend of mine Leino...evidently complementary pictures of the both of us.
This is at a rather exciting party...and two of the girls dressed up as cats and danced a dance to the tune of "pink panther" ohhhh dear...it was hilarious :D:D
A group of party animals about to play a very strange relay game involving balloons...which became even more interesting when the act of spinning on the spot before running was introduced...
Some of my best finnish friends, from the left: Jussi (host brother) Janika Ruuth, And Miika Pelkonen...if you search for "ineski" on youtube you should see quite a few of his videos, he's a brilliant magician...also http://www.miikapelkonen.com/
MMM That was a nice cake! "Kakku" in finnish...not to be confused with "Kakka" which looks slightly more brown and less tasty...
And that concludes today's ceremony :D
hope it was enjoyable...I have many photos still on my camera...should be exciting when I download them...oh and DAD DO YOU HAVE MY 2 GB STORAGE CARD? I can't see it anywhere
anyway
cheers
Dave
